Dessert and Dancing
Celebrating both Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day, United Community Church enjoyed a Dessert and Dancing party on February 13, 2024. Swing North Big Band provided the wonderful Jazz and Swing music while we dances, ate delicious dessert, and enjoyed each other’s company. This activity was open to the public and many non-parishioners came and enjoyed the music, fellowship and dancing.
Volunteers from the St. Johnsbury area, provided a wonderful free Thanksgiving meal to all. Under the direction of Beth Norris and Chef Hale, from the St. Johnsbury Academy Culinary Department, they served over 800 diners on Thanksgiving. For those unable to eat in, take out meals were provided. Over 100 meals were given out for take out.
Free Community Thanksgiving dinner
Over 800 ghouls and ghosts came through the Haunted Sanctuary, on Halloween. They walked through a forest of lollipops, dead trees inhabited by spooky creatures. To help them along the way, they heard the beginning of Bach’s Toccata in d minor played on the organ. There was even an oven to crawl through at the witch’s house. All goblins who made it through the forest received either candy or a non-candy treat.

Haunted Sanctuary
Every Halloween night we host a very spooky walk through series of haunting scenes in the Sanctuary. Our pipe organ plays scary music that can be heard all the way out on Main Street. This is a free and family friendly event that coincides with all the festivities in town. Last year we had 2,000 people walk through.
